Department Of Microbiology

The department of Microbiology was established in the year 1995 with UG course and 1998 with PG course, where students and faculties are involved in exciting educational and core activities in the field of Microbiology. Currently the Department offers B.Sc., Microbiology and M.Sc., Applied Microbiology programs. The curricula for this course are set on the basis of CBSC (Choice Based Credit System) to encourage students to choose the specific field of study pertaining to their interest. The Department possesses a high efficient and well qualified teaching faculty.

The Department imparts knowledge of the basic principles of Immunology, Medical Bacteriology, Mycology and Parasitology, Virology and Molecular Biology. The department has well-furnished laboratories and equipment’s with all basic and advanced facilities for the need of the students. The course offers a great opportunity to study the microbial world and provides a lot of career scopes to the students after its successful completion.

    Eligibility Criteria


Applicants who have taken Science with or without Mathematics in higher secondary examination.

  • PO1: On successful completion of Bachelor of Science programme, students will acquire detailed knowledge and expertise in all the disciplines of the subject.
  • PO2: Provide an environment that fosters continuous research and innovation in their specific subject and a scientific approach in all their endeavours.
  • PO3: Familiarize the graduates to collect, analyze and interpret scientific data and help the students to have problem solving skills and draw a logical conclusion.

  • PSO1: To prepare students both theoretically and practically in basic and applied fields of microbiology and make them competent to takeup good career and entrepreneurship in the field.
