Department Of Biochemistry

Biochemistry is at the heart of the rapid and exciting advances in biomedical science that have been one of mankind’s major achievements of the past 60 years – from understanding enzyme function to deciphering the structure of DNA to modern stem cell biology and genomics. Biochemists seek to understand the fundamental mechanisms that underlie living organisms, as well as to provide insight into how disruption of these processes can lead to disease. The Department of Biochemistry is a spearhead department of PSVASC and established in the year 1995. Currently the department offers B.Sc. Biochemistry.

The department has the state-of-the-art laboratory to conduct experiments effectively. Since its inception, with the help of well-educated and knowledgeable faculties the department has always strived to be on par with the recent trends in this rapidly evolving field by offering enriched learning experience to young aspirants.  Also, the department is dedicated to provide a platform for young minds to diverge and evolve profoundly in the area of Biochemistry.

Apart from the regular curriculum department also offers certificate courses like DMLT to develop their technical skills, Add on courses like mushroom cultivation and Exotic vegetables, for improving their entrepreneurship qualities. Health Club of Biochemistry department organizes various seminars, workshops and conferences to enhance the quality of life through medical care and disease prevention measures.

Applicants who have taken Science with or without Mathematics in higher secondary education.

  • PO1: On successful completion of Bachelor of Science programme, students will acquire detailed knowledge and expertise in all the disciplines of the subject.
