Department of English

The Department of English has been successfully contributing to the college since the year 1995 by offering general English course to other departments. The department has evolved significantly over the following decades and in 2016, the college introduced B.A. English Literature. Curriculum fosters skills such as close reading, critical thinking, and effective communication – all of which are valued by today’s employers. The department aims to help students build knowledge of the content and methods of Literary Studies. This course helps students to see themselves as professionals, as part of a discipline with skills and abilities valuable in the teaching, publishing, business, or postgraduate work.

All the class rooms are well ventilated and commodious, well equipped with latest technology, enriching students with current methodologies and approaches along with traditional classroom practices to enhance their LSRW (Listening, Speaking,Reading and Writing ) skills. The department also provides a library facility which has an extensive collection of literary books. The students are given the freedom to approach the department to borrow or refer books for their academic endeavours.

The department has active Literary Club to encourage students to participate in the club activities. The club encourages students to enrich their skills in the literary arena. The club also enhances the student's interest in literature and in various dimensions and perspectives of literary works. The students are encouraged to enroll in various online courses like NPTEL, Alison and other online courses. Every year, students get training for placement opportunities provided by the college.

  • PO1: Students will acquire detailed knowledge and expertise in all the disciplines of the subject.
